2025 AWIS Newsletter Vol.3

Aiwin International School 豊中キャンパスは、 このたび国際バカロレア (IB)初等教育プログラム(PYP）を正式に提供する IB ワールドスクール として 認定されました。
この成果は、単にカリキュラムの承認を得たということではなく、ここまでの道のりを共に歩んでくださった“人”への深い敬意と感謝を表すものです。

認定までの一歩ひとつひとつには、教師たちの揺るぎない献身、子どもたちのあふれる探究心と強さ、そして保護者の皆さまが示してくださった信頼・忍耐・温かなパートナーシップがありました。
私たちはこれまで、探究・振り返り・国際的な視野という IB の価値観を大切にしながら、「子どもの声が尊重される学びの場」を築いてきました。

子どもたち一人ひとりが自信と笑顔にあふれ、心も体も大きく成長した一日となりました。

そして今年 AWIS の 10 周年という節目の年に IB ワールドスクール認定をいただけたことは、まさに特別な意味を持ちます。
小さなビジョンから始まったAWISが、今では世界中の IB スクールと並ぶ学びのコミュニティへと成長したことは、皆さまとの歩みの証です。

私たちは 10 年間、「Solid Education for Global Communication」の理念のもと、子どもたち一人ひとりが自分らしく学び、自由に表現し、思いやりを育む環境を大切にしてきました。
彼らは賢く考えるだけでなく、優しく寄り添い、問いを立て、自分の世界を広げていける学習者へと成長しています。

IBワールドスクールとなった今でも、AWISの本質は変わりません。
むしろ、これまで大切にしてきた「探究・遊び・振り返り・思いやりによる学び」が、国際的な教育基準の中で確かに認められたということにほかなりません。

これからも AWISは、自信を持って、思いやりと柔軟な心を備えた子どもたちを育て、より平和でつながりある世界をつくる学習者を育成してまいります。

Aiwin International School Toyonaka Campus has officially been authorized as an IB World School to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
This achievement represents far more than the approval of a curriculum — it is a recognition of the people who made this journey possible and the shared vision that has guided us from the beginning.

Every step toward authorization reflects the dedication of our teachers, the curiosity and resilience of our students, and the trust, patience, and partnership of our AWIS families. Together, we have embraced the IB values of inquiry, reflection, and international-mindedness, creating a learning environment where every child’s voice is heard and valued.

This year, our celebration carries special meaning. Marking both AIWS’s 10th anniversary and our recognition as an IB World School bringsa beautiful sense of symmetry. What began as a small vision has grown into a thriving learning community that now stands proudly within the global IB network of schools.

For the past decade, we have lived our philosophy of “Solid Education for Global Communication.” Together, we have nurtured children who think deeply, express themselves confidently, show compassion to others, and understand that they are part of something greater than their classrooms.

Becoming an IB World School does not change who we are — it strengthens who we have always been. It affirms that our approach to learning — through inquiry, play, reflection, and care — meets world-class standards of education while staying true to the heart of AIWS. As we move forward, we remain committed to nurturing confident, compassionate, and open-minded learners who will contribute to a more peaceful, connected world.

今年のサイエンスウィークでは、各クラスが「クラゲ」「指紋」「植物の育ち方」など、それぞれユニークなテーマを選び、1週間じっくりと探求しました。クラスごとにテーマの個性がはっきりと表れ、“自分たちのサイエンス”を思いきり楽しむ子どもたちの姿がとても印象的でした。

JK・Kクラスでは、最終日にこれまで学んだ内容を「ラーニングステーション」として展示し、下の学年の子どもたちを招待しました。
展示を訪れた子どもたちは興味のあるテーマを自由に巡り、「探求」や「実験」を体験しながらクラスを超えた交流を楽しんでいました。

さらに、毎年恒例となっている「箕面自由学園の科学の先生」を今年もお招きし、子どもたちはわくわくの詰まった特別授業を体験しました。本物の科学者から学ぶことで、子どもたちの興味はさらに広がり、目を輝かせながら実験に取り組む姿が見られました。

AWISでは、子どもたちの好奇心を引き出し、自ら学び・試し・発見する Hands-on Learning（体験型学習）を大切にしています。サイエンスウィークは、まさにその理念を形にしたイベントであり、AWISの STEAM 教育の核となる学びが、今年も豊かに広がった1週間となりました。

During Science Week, each class selected a unique theme—such as jellyfish, fingerprints, and how plants grow—and spent the entire week exploring their chosen topic in depth.
The individuality of each theme shone brightly, and it was wonderful to see children fully engaged in “their own science,” discovering, questioning, and experimenting with curiosity.

In the JK and K classes, students showcased their learning through Learning Stations, inviting younger classes to visit. Children moved freely between stations, choosing topics that caught their interest and enjoying hands-on inquiry and experiments that sparked conversations across grade levels.

As in every year, we also welcomed the Science Teacher from School of Minoh Gakuen, who delivered an exciting and interactive special lesson. Learning directly from a real science specialist expanded the children’s sense of wonder, and their eyes sparkled as they participated in experiments and demonstrations.

At AWIS, we place great value on STEAM education and hands-on learning, encouraging children to explore, question, and make discoveries through real experiences. Science Week is a signature event that truly reflects this philosophy, offering a rich learning environment where curiosity leads the way.

Junior Kindy・Kindy（年中・年長）の子どもたちは、リスニング・スピーキング・リーディング・ライティングの4技能を評価する国際プログラム「ケンブリッジ英語アセスメント」に挑戦しました。今年は豊中校でテストの本番を実施しました。
AWIS の園児が受験する基礎レベル「スターターズ」では、特にヒアリングとスピーキングの実践的な力がチェックされます。

当日は、子どもたちが色鉛筆や鉛筆を使いながら、これまでの学びを丁寧に発揮し、集中してテストに取り組む姿が見られました。
毎年、多くの JK・K の子どもたちがリスニング・スピーキングのテストで “ネイティブ6歳児相当のほぼ満点” という素晴らしい成果を収めております。

AWIS では、このテストを単なる「結果を測るためのもの」ではなく、子どもたちが自分の成長を実感できる大切な節目として大切にしています。テストを通して「できるようになったこと」に気づき、自信を深める良い機会となっています。

Junior Kindy and Kindy students took part in the Cambridge English Assessment, an international program that evaluates English through the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing,and This year, the official Cambridge Test was held at the Toyonaka Campus.
The “Starters” level, which AWIS students take, includes a speaking and listening component that checks practical English communication skills.

On test day, the children approached the exam with focus, carefully using their pencils and colored pencils as they demonstrated the skills they have developed throughout their time at AWIS.
Every year, many of our JK and K students achieve outstanding results, often achieving at a near-native 6-year-old level in the Speaking and Listening components.

At AWIS, we view this assessment not just as a measure of results, but as an important moment for children to recognize their growth and feel proud of their progress.

10年の歩みが響き合う、感動のステージへ

毎年恒例の AWIS「ウィンターコンサート」が、今年もいよいよ開催されます。
今年のテーマは 「 Once Upon a Decade AWIS」。
AWIS が歩んできた 10 年の時間、そして子どもたちが積み重ねてきた小さな成長の一歩一歩が、 このステージの上で “ひとつの物語” として美しく響き合います。

園児たちは週に一度の MUSIC クラスで、この日のために丁寧に、そして一生懸命に練習を続けてきました。
Early Nursery・Nursery では、小さな手で鳴らす鈴の音をひとつに重ね、 Preschool ではカスタネットの響きに耳を澄ませ、 Junior Kindy 以上では、楽譜を見ながら ピアニカ の音を一音一音ていねいに紡いできました。

できることが増えるたびに、子どもたちの表情には自信が宿り、 ステージに立つその日を心待ちにしている姿が印象的です。

当日は 4 キャンパスの園児が一堂に会し、 これまでの努力が音楽として結ばれる、まさに圧巻のステージとなります。
緊張しながらも、自分を信じて音を奏でる子どもたちの姿は、 AWIS BASIC（Balance・Adaptable・Self-confidence・Imaginative・Communicative） をそのまま体現しており、ひとつひとつの瞬間が、観る人の胸に深い感動を届けてくれることでしょう。

仲間と音を重ね、光の中で輝く子どもたちの姿は、AWIS が 10 年間大切にしてきた教育と愛情が確かに実を結んだことを示す、心に残る特別な瞬間となるはずです。

A Heartfelt Stage Where 10 Years of Growth Come Together

The annual AWIS Winter Concert is finally approaching once again. The theme for this year is “Once Upon a Decade AWIS,” reflecting our 10-year journey and the meaningful steps of growth our children have made along the way.

Throughout the year, our students have been practicing with sincerity and dedication during their weekly MUSIC classes, preparing for the moment they will step onto the stage.
In Early Nursery and Nursery, children work together to align the gentle sounds of their bells.
In Preschool, they listen closely to the rhythm of the castanets as they learn to create harmony as a group.
From Junior Kindy upward, students read their sheet music with focus, shaping each note on the pianica with care and intention.

As they build new skills, their expressions fill with confidence and anticipation—each child quietly looking forward to the day they will perform in front of their families.

On the day of the concert, all four AWIS campuses will gather for an inspiring and truly impressive performance. Even when they feel nervous, the way children trust themselves and continue to play reflects the essence of AWIS BASIC: Balance, Adaptable, Self-confidence, Imaginative, Communicative. Every moment on stage is sure to touch the hearts of everyone watching.

As the children blend their sounds with their peers and shine under the lights, their performance becomes a beautiful symbol of the education, love, and dedication that AWIS has nurtured over the past decade. It will be a memorable and deeply moving experience for our entire community.
